Our Lady Goes To The Landmark
Several of the shopping malls in the Philippines nowadays have chapels wherein their customers can conveniently attend Mass and pray. The Landmark Makati is one of them where the Mary, Mother of Hope Chapel is housed.
On July 19, 2017, the Propagation Externa team of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal National Shrine Parish (OLMMNSP) brought the pilgrim image of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal to The Landmark chapel.
A gracious welcome was accorded to Our Lady. Once the pilgrim image was positioned at the side of the altar, the arrival prayers were said followed by the praying of the rosary. Then, an audio visual presentation (AVP) on the Miraculous Medal by JD Carandang was shown.
Since it was a Wednesday, the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help was recited by the assembly after the Angelus and prior the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by their chaplain, Fr. Rufino "Jun" C. Sescon, Jr.
Fr. Jun opened the Mass by honoring and acknowledging the presence of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. He enjoined everyone to welcome Our Lady by giving her a warm round of applause. He continued by saying that "Jesus sent her to us because He loves us."
In his homily, Fr. Jun talked about God as a God of encounter. He mentioned that the apparitions in France which include that of Mary, Mother of Hope; Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal; and Our Lady of Lourdes are reminders for us to encounter God. He exhorted that the first miracle that we should pray for through Mama Mary's intercession is to encounter God in our lives, know His will and follow it just like her.
After the concluding rite, Fr. Jun blessed the Miraculous Medals and incensed the Pilgrim Image of Our Lady as an expression of reverence and of prayer.
Afterwards, the congregation eagerly lined up for the imposition of the Miraculous Medals. They also paid homage to Our Lady by taking pictures, touching her image and praying for her intercession.
Before going back to her shrine in Sucat, Muntinlupa on Sunday, July 23, 2017, the novena to the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal was prayed by the assembly; the AVP was shown; and the Holy Mass was celebrated at 5:30 p.m. by the OLMMNSP Shrine Rector, Fr. Francisco Nicolas "Kiko" P. Magnaye, Jr., C.M.
Fr. Kiko shed light on the Gospel about the parable of the weeds and the wheat or the "Gospel of mercy and of judgment." He said that God is forbearing, tolerant and understanding giving us opportunities to repent; and that we should always choose to do good all the time. On judgment day, "the weeds are thrown for burning but the wheat are gathered into His barn."
The departure prayer was recited before the Mass ended. Fr. Kiko also introduced the Shrine of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and invited the assembly to come to the Shrine and join the Saturday novena to Our Lady. He likewise encouraged them to visit the OLMMNSP website by typing "Miraculous Medal Sucat" in the search engine.
To cap the celebration, Fr. Kiko incensed the Pilgrim Image of Our Lady and blessed the Miraculous Medals which were imposed on the churchgoers after the Mass.
The Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal stayed at the Mary, Mother of Hope Chapel for five days showering graces to her children visiting the chapel.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
