Our Lady Shines In The Heart Of Greenbelt
Set amid the fashion and lifestyle stores in Greenbelt is the Sto. Niño de Paz Greenbelt Chapel where the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal will reside as guest of honor for six days.
Fr. Rufino "Jun" C. Sescon, Jr., the chaplain of both the Greenbelt and The Landmark chapels, invited the Propagation Externa team of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal National Shrine Parish (OLMMNSP) to bring the pilgrim image of Our Lady to Greenbelt Chapel after her sojourn in The Landmark Chapel last month.
On August 11, 2017, the pilgrim image of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal arrived at the Greenbelt Chapel.
At 11:00 a.m., the arrival prayers were said then the audio visual presentation on the Miraculous Medal by JD Carandang was played twice.
Afterwards, the Greenbelt Chapel proceeded with their scheduled prayers starting with the rosary, next was the novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, then the novena to Sto. Niño de Paz.
At noon, the Angelus was recited followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Fr. Jun.
During the introduction, Fr. Jun acknowledged the presence of the pilgrim image of Our Lady by giving her a welcome applause.
In his homily, Fr. Jun dwelt on the subject of happiness. He cited the proposed bill on the dissolution of marriage with unhappiness as a ground for divorce. But what is happiness, Fr. Jun asked.
He continued by saying that happiness can mean different things to different people. The martyrs were happy to endure pain because they were being offered to God. For St. Claire, poverty is happiness because what made her happy was to follow the Lord.
According to Fr. Jun, "Our happiness should stem from our deepest identity. And our identity is that we are created in the image and likeness of God."
He added by saying that "today we are reminded to remember the deeds of the Lord. Our Lady keeps on appearing in so many places because she wants as to change our ways and to go back to Jesus which is the true happiness."
He ended his homily with a supplication to Our Dear Lady to teach us to be filled with love that we may always return to Jesus.
Before the concluding rite, Fr. Jun thanked the OLMMNSP Propagation Externa team for bringing Our Lady to their chapel and announced that there will be distribution of the Miraculous Medals following the Mass.
After the final blessing, he incensed the pilgrim image of Our Lady, paid respect and blessed the Miraculous Medals. The churchgoers then eagerly lined up for the imposition of the Miraculous Medals. They also gave homage to Our Lady, took pictures of and selfies with her.
The Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal will return to her Shrine in Sucat, Muntinlupa after the 7:00 p.m. Mass on August 16, 2017.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
