National Shrine Council - NSC
The NSC was organized in 2005 for the purpose of propagating and increasing the devotion to Mary Immaculate under her title of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and to encourage pilgrimages to the Shrine.
At that time, the Parish Priest was the concurrent Shrine Rector and for expediency he delegated his authority and responsibility to a trusted appointee. Ms. Winnie Dela Luna had been the Council head since 2005. She was, and still continues to be, assisted by the original members of NSC’s predecessor unit, the Propagation Committee, i.e., Cosette Reyes, Nora Mendoza, Perla Mackay, Linda Kimpo, Fer D. Alagao and other volunteers to carry out the NSC activities which include: operation of a souvenir shop, scheduling the “Visita Domiciliaria”, encouraging pilgrims to the Shrine through a perpetual novena to our Lady, Radio Veritas broadcasts, promotional materials and activities, spiritual healing services and other devotionals, and improving the surroundings for an appropriate ambience for the Shrine.
On 13 June 2011, three (3) members were added to complete the maximum 10-membership number for the NSC. Appointed in their ex-officio capacities were the heads of the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Finance Council and Chairman of the Worship Liturgy. The incumbents of these units are: Ms. Fidelita de Leon, Mr. Ramon Reyes and Ms. Sonia Pelobello respectively.
The purpose of the ex-officio appointments was to obtain their “official points of view in the undertakings of the NSC”.
In 2013, Fr. Venerando D. Agner, CM, Provincial Visitor of the CM Philippine Province, appointed Fr. Francisco Nicolas P. Magnaye, Jr., CM, as Shrine Rector and Fr. Nelson B. Bisco, CM, as Parish Priest.
